The Podtronics regulator / rectifier replaces the troublesome Lucas rectifier and zener diode on British motorcycles such as Triumph, BSA and Norton. 1) This regulator may not provide enough power when using an electronic ignition system and no battery
2) Your rotor and stator must be putting out the correct amount of AC voltage to be able to run without a battery, if it is 50 year original equipment it may not be up to snuff
3) Designed to be used with or without, a battery installed in the bike. The design includes an internal storage capacitor allowing starting when operating without a battery.
4) This unit is for 12Volt AC systems and will not work on bikes with 6 Volt DC generators.
